As the stars and stripes in the red white and black colours of the St Kilda Saints, flashed home at Ipswich yesterday, the screams of excitement coming from the grandstand could be heard 100 metres away.
Rogali, cleverly named as a combination of his owners Roger and Alison, has his own facebook page (Rogali The Colt) which amusingly details the trials and tribulations of racehorse in work from the horse’s perspective.
Rogali, a son of Henry The Navigator out of a Carniege mare, was always going to show his best over a bit of distance. In a field of sixteen runners and with highly skilled jockey Brad Stewart in the saddle he did the job yesterday winning by a margin of 2.8 lengths over the 1666m trip.
Danny was thrilled to get the win for Roger and Alison who as many of you will know are keen racing enthusiasts and quite frankly two of the nicest people you would ever meet. They are regulars at early morning track work and love Rogali like a son. Their unwavering faith in the horse they purchased at the Magic Millions January sale paid off yesterday and Roger was man enough to acknowledge that he shed a tear or two of joy.
We can’t wait to see what Rogali puts on his facebook page after winning so easily on the first day of the increased prize money in Queensland!
Happy Days
