Longport affectionately known as “Lucy” has retired to begin her new career as a broodmare based at Yarraman Park Stud Scone. Owner Steve Gillard is weighing up stallion options but as you could imagine there is quite a bit of interest from stallion owners who would be proud to have her on their booking list.
Longport was already a Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed when she joined our stable in June 2013. Danny successfully campaigned her in Melbourne when she took out the Emirates Airline Handicap at Flemington on the last day of the Melbourne Spring Carnival. Longport’s race record stands at 17 starts 4-3-1 and earnings of $487,730.
Loved by all for her beautiful calm temperament, Lucy will no doubt make an outstanding broodmare and we all look forward to seeing what she produces during the coming years.
