Long shot Neptune Palace salutes the judge on Port Macquarie Cup Day

When Neptune Palace arrived in the mounting yard on Port Macquarie Cup day he instantly drew attention from the racing commentators and attending audience for his iridescent sheen and obvious fitness. Having drawn the outside barrier and being quite the handful in the mounting yard, Neptune Palace’s odds, extended to $32. Jockey Cassandra Schmidt followed Danny’s instructions to the letter and gave the six year old gelding a terrific ride. Neptune Palace became only the second horse on the eight card race meeting to come from behind to win running down the outside. This sixth win for Neptune Palace brings him to the top of leader board for his sire’s progeny based on number of wins. This capped off a triumphant day for the Falvelon Lodge stable and a wonderful way for Cassie Schmidt to end her apprenticeship.
