Speedy filly Ooshe was unlucky at her first start this preparation at Ballina. Jumping well she easily mustered speed and was eyeballed by two other runners who eventually could not continue the pace. Having done all the work leading the field at a blistering pace left Ooshe vulnerable and she was overtaken in the last couple of strides to be beaten only 0.3L. The time for the 1000m sprint was a quick 56.87 which was a new race record and only 0.3 seconds outside the track record which has stood for 21 years.
